Wuxi\u00a0is located in southeast Jiangsu province, the center of the Yangtze River Delta, which is the most developed economic area of China. It is adjacent to Taihu Lake on the south, the Yangtze River on the north, 128 km to Shanghai on the east, and 183 km to Nanjing on the west.<\/p>\n
On an area of 4,627 square kilometers,\u00a0Wuxi\u00a0administrates two county-level cities, namely Jiangyin and Yixing, and five districts, namely Liangxi district, Xishan district, Huishan district, Binhu district and Xinwu district. It has a permanent resident population of 7.49 million.<\/p>\n

The vast majority of\u00a0Wuxi’s land area is flat. The highest point in the city is its peak of Huangtading Mountain in Yixing’s Lingxia Village, which is 611.5 meters high, the highest mountain in the south Yangtze River Delta region. The city has many rivers, canals, streams and lakes and is known for its rich water resources.
